EASTWARD BOUND: A BENGALI MEAL

After planting myself for a while in the West in the Maharashtrian flavors, this week I made a sharp turn and went East to enjoy some traditional Bangla specialities! A friend was visiting and she had not been home in a long while and I knew that she had not eaten comfort food in a long time. So I decided to make my version of a Bengali mini meal for her that hopefully reminded her of the comforts of her home in Kolkatta. So with the help of my dear friend Soma Majumdar Sinha who generously shared her recipes and tips, I proceeded to make three staples from the region: Aloo posto, Chholar Dal, and Kasundi Begun. This time, I did not add the spicy twist to the kasundi baingan.
