A FATHER’S FAVORITE

For me, many mental associations with people, events, and places are around food.  My brother is visiting and in our conversations about family members, we have been talking about food habits, preferences, etc. In memory of our father, I decided to make one (there were many!) of his favorite weekday dinner menus: Thengaa Thogayal, Jeera Rasam, and Vengaya Pachdi., i.e. Coconut Sambol, Cumin Rasam, and Onion Raita! These three work amazingly well together and I wanted to re-create what my mother used to effortlessly churn out regularly! I added a vegetable and a salad just to add more variety to the lunch in honor of the visitor! 🙂

Anti-clockwise in order of appearance:

Kosamiri with peanuts, Jeera Rasam, Onion Pachdi, Baingan Subzi, Rice with Tamilian Coconut Sambol.
