Had never heard of Bathua Raita till recently! Any kind of raita and I am in!! So, since I went and bought Bathua to make Sarson ka Saag, I reserved a little to try out this raita and it was super!  Loved it! Took no time at all and the result was yummmy!!!!


  • Yield: 2 servings
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes


  • 1/2 cup Bathua (pigweed) leaves
  • 1/2 cup Yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder


  1. Add 1/2 cup of chopped bathua to a pan with water and cook till they get soft.

  2. Drain the leaves and blend till smooth

  3. Add the puree to a bowl. Whisk in half a cup of thick yogurt.

  4. Add salt to taste and 1/2 tsp of cumin powder.

  5. Serve cold as an accompaniment to any meal!
